Music and Theater

Throughout scripture we see that instrumental and vocal music are a fundamental means of expressing our love and praise to God.

All grade levels at Immanuel have special music programs.  Beginning in preschool, we encourage music in the classrooms.  Beginning in Kindergarten and extending through 5th grade, our students attend music class twice per week and are involved in various music programs and performance opportunities throughout the school year.

Middle School Choir and Spring Musical

Our middle school students are allowed to choose choir as an elective each trimester, and are encouraged to participate in the spring musical every year.

Recent middle school musical productions include Rock Around the Block, Fussin' an' a-Feudin', Hairy Tale Rock, and Yankee Doodle Dandy.  These productions give our students the opportunity to perform on stage through singing, dancing, and acting.  They may also work behind the scenes with costumes, sets, lighting, props, or stage management.  The musical is presented for two nights in the April or May timeframe in a dessert theater format.

5th - 8th Grade Band

Students from 5th-8th grade are eligible to participate in band.  Our band director leads and provides individual lessons to students. There is a fee to participate in band, which is payable by the 15th of each month.  Students may choose from flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion.  Oboe, French horn, piano, and other instruments will be considered by request from parents.   Sorry, no guitar or violin.

Students will need a functioning, quality instrument.  Instruments may be rented or purchased from area music stores.  Many quality instruments can also be located through the internet, newspaper, or word of mouth.  A wire fold-up stand and a music book are also required.  Contact the school office for more information.
